Much Needed Update

Hey all-I have found out that I will be in the Kamuli area of Uganda for the next 2 years. Southeaster Uganda. I will be working with an international NGO with Orphans and Vulerable Children and Youth. I am excited. These next two years are looking more promising and fun!

Frog- Update
I walked home in the dark when it was raining. (a 20min walk) A frog's heaven. Thanks to the assistance of my good friend Diana and her head lamp I made it all the way home and then saw a HUGE frog near the steps of the house and I freaked out!!! Hey, but I did make the walk home. I won't try that one again.

Mail Update

I don't have any. Hmmm.
Well just an FYI when you send packages it gets here faster if they are in a padded envelope vs a box. If you label the package "religious materials" or add some religious phrases then it doesn't get tampered with and it ships faster. Just a hint or two. Oh if you send books or media materials you can get a media discount rate from the US post office. I'll be waiting.

I miss you all write/email soon. It's hard to access the internet sometimes b/c of reliability and funds. Peace

Hey Renee,

I have been waiting for an update... I am very proud of you for walking home in the dark and in the rain. At least you know you can do it if you have to. As soon as I figure out how to call you I will give you a call. I know , I know ... I just need help making the first call after that I will be ok. Eddie, Tee, and Nyla are doing well. Please know we have not forgotten you. I rode my bike for the first time Friday, I thought of you riding your bike in Uganda. The only difference was that I was riding my bike down Skycrest in Raleigh, NC... Miss you

Evangelist evans and Jada is writing to let you know we chuckled while reading your blog updates. It is as if we can actually see you while you speaking through letter. The frogs sounds "HUMONGOUS" but we all know fear can can cause things to appear big. But you are doing well keeping the spirit of praise and laughter present. I know the children there are loving you and they are going to you love as you journey to places where they are. May the spirit of youth continue to flow upon you as you step into territories that has been assigned to you. "IN JESUS NAME."
Keeping up with your mom the best I can. I am wearing sneakers too.

Write again to you soon.
Jada is doing well in school. learning 6th grade stuff is working me. having to spell words I never heard of.

subtrahend, minuend, this week her biggest words are. miscellaneous and multiplication.

Khod'eyo na Nsangaire. If you're up in the Kamuli area you will be near Israel. Unfortunately I'm stuck near Iganga town. During your site visit I'm planning on going up to Israel's site (Bupadhengo on the Kamuli-Jinja road) sometime that week so you can try to meet up with us. You can get cell numbers from Gulere. Sucks that you had to talk to Mark when you had to call us PCVs. He's not very good at the language and is kind of a spaz anyways. See you in a few weeks, I guess.

Tunawyanga.

Riding a bike, walking in the dark with huge frogs at the door? Man, you really have it rough. LOL. I am just teasing. I am glad you are overcoming some fears, though. Life here has been very busy for me. I received your letter and will be mailing my response soon now that I have time to think again. I have literally travled out of town every other week since you left the US. We tend to hear alot that goes on in Uganda and the surrounding areas, so we are always praying for you. Take Care and know that people love you and are praying for you

Always, Hali

Hi Renee,

Greetings from the Vick family. We are glad to hear from you and know that you are doing well. We were very concerned when Lila posted the article about flooding in Uganda. We are relieved to know it isn't your area. Things are well on our home front. Zion just had her first b-day on 9/15 and Caleb will be 4 on 10/4. I look forward to reading more of your blog!!!!!
